From the heart of Contrada Pietra Marina comes a wine that carries the breath of the volcano, the minerality of the soils, and the harmony of Etna’s microclimates. Etna Bianco Pietra Marina Ester Canale Rosso is not just a wine: it is a liquid story of the territory, of the Rosso family, and of the passion guiding each harvest.

Since its debut, this white wine has already received praise and recognition from the most authoritative voices in international wine criticism. Each score highlights a different facet of the wine: its immediate impact, technical precision, fidelity to the territory, elegance, or market value. These international evaluations confirm the quality of Etna Bianco Pietra Marina Ester Canale Rosso while explaining why it is extraordinary: each critic has captured a fragment of its unique character, turning numbers into stories of taste and identity.

James Suckling, with his direct approach focused on immediate sensory impact and aimed at those who want to choose quickly, awarded the Pietra Marina Ester Canale Rosso 94 points, noting how its “abundant stony minerality and ultra-clean, iodized finish” immediately captivates the palate. Decanter, adopting a narrative and educational approach, looks beyond the glass, also considering cultural context and fidelity to the terroir. Their 93 points reward the clear expression of the terroir’s authenticity, with “citrus and saline energy, harmonized by a slightly creamy finish”.

Vinous (Antonio Galloni) provides a highly technical and detailed evaluation, emphasizing terroir, longevity, and regional coherence. Their 92 points reflect how the wine is a faithful portrait of Contrada Pietra Marina: a “liquid stone blending with sweet herbs in a long, airy finish”. Kerin O’Keefe, specializing in high-end Italian wines, assesses style, authenticity, and typicity, highlighting the wine’s ability to express its origin without artifice. Her 93 points emphasize balance, mineral tension, and aromatic finesse, perfectly combining elegance and territory.

Falstaff, with a technical perspective also oriented toward lifestyle, awarded 96 points, praising structure, precision, and gastronomic versatility - qualities that make the wine appealing both in fine dining and to the most demanding palates. DoctorWine, adopting a didactic and explanatory approach focused on educating rather than merely judging, gave it 96 points as well, highlighting gustatory clarity, elegance, and potential for aging, confirming reliability and longevity. Merano WineHunter adds a particular attention to innovation, sustainability, and design, evaluating also the wine’s ability to communicate through its image. The Platinum recognition confirms refinement, elegance, and visionary qualities, rewarding the combination of taste, identity, and presentation.

Etna Bianco Pietra Marina Ester Canale Rosso thus stands not only as a wine to taste but as a story to experience and share, capable of moving and captivating enthusiasts and experts around the world.

At Giovanni Rosso, we are proud to unveil our latest creation: Etna Bianco Pietra Marina Ester Canale Rosso. Building on four generations of winemaking tradition and a legacy of excellence in the Langhe, this exceptional white wine represents our ongoing commitment to precision, elegance, and the authentic expression of terroir. What sets it apart is its singular identity, shaped by the extraordinary characteristics of Contrada Pietra Marina, one of Etna’s most emblematic wine crus.
Our story on Etna began in 2014, when Davide Rosso discovered the volcanic soils, native grape varieties, and unique microclimates of this remarkable region. Inspired by the potential of the land, we acquired a 14-hectare estate in Contrada Montedolce in 2016. Here, we planted Nerello Mascalese and Carricante vineyards and transformed a historic palmento into a modern winery. This was where we first crafted our Etna Rosso and Bianco Montedolce wines, combining the meticulous craftsmanship and precision of four generations of Piedmontese winemaking with the distinctive character of Etna.
In 2023, we expanded our vision by acquiring 2 hectares in Contrada Pietra Marina, historically recognized as a quintessential white wine cru of Mount Etna. From this extraordinary terroir, we created Etna Bianco Pietra Marina Ester Canale Rosso, a wine that expresses a clear, unmistakable identity. Its name and label honor our family’s deep roots and our unwavering pursuit of excellence.
Contrada Pietra Marina is a rare and emblematic site. Situated on the northern slope of Mount Etna, near the Alcantara River, its soils combine volcanic sands and ash with fluvial silt and sand, enriched by sandstone outcrops. The vineyard’s elevated position, constant ventilation, and wide temperature swings ensure slow, balanced ripening, allowing the grapes to achieve exceptional complexity and precision. In this unique environment, we have crafted a white wine that offers a fresh interpretation of Etna Bianco: elegant, pure, and unmistakably shaped by its terroir.

Etna Bianco Pietra Marina Ester Canale Rosso marks an important step forward in our journey on the volcano. It is a wine that reflects the singularity of Pietra Marina and the values that guide our work: respect for the land, dedication to craftsmanship, and a continuous quest for excellence.

Two distinguished awards celebrating the artistry and excellence of Italian wine.
Our Barolo has received 110 points cum laude, the highest score in the 2026 Guide de L’Espresso, while our winemaker Andrea Delpiano was recognized as Winemaker of the Year. This double achievement reflects the vision, passion, and dedication that have guided our family for four generations. The award was accepted by Ester Canale Rosso during the presentation of the Guides, now in their 46th edition, on the stage of the Teatro degli Arcimboldi in Milan on October 23. Her name is featured on the historic label of the Barolo Vignarionda Ester Canale Rosso, from vines planted in 1946: a tribute to the history of this legendary vineyard and the excellence of a wine that fully expresses the character and nobility of its terroir. Now more than ever, we fully embrace the idea that wine and gastronomy are the Eighth Art, a symbol of Italian culture and soon to be recognized as part of the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage. With pride and gratitude, we thank the Guide de L’Espresso for this double recognition, which honors our commitment to celebrating the land, authenticity, and the highest quality in our wines.

Giovanni Rosso, together with long-standing partner Berry Bros. & Rudd UK, proudly announces the successful completion of the Beaune to Barolo charity ride, one of the most challenging initiatives in Berry Bros. & Rudd’s charity series in support of MND research and assistance, which also includes the English Wine Walk, Kenny Logan’s Rugby WCC, and the London to Champagne charity Ride.

The Beaune to Barolo challenge saw 21 cyclists cover more than 600 km over five days, tackling iconic climbs from the Tour de France and Giro d’Italia, from the legendary Route des Grands Crus in Burgundy, including Col d’Izoard, Col du Galibier, and Colle dell’Agnello, before descending into the rolling hills of Barolo. Beyond the physical challenge, the ride carried a deeper purpose: raising funds for the My Name’5 Doddie Foundation in support of Motor Neuron Disease (MND) research.

The event was inspired by Davy Żyw, a dear friend and valued collaborator of Berry Bros. & Rudd, who in 2018 received a devastating MND diagnosis. Facing this rare and cruel disease with extraordinary courage, Davy has transformed personal adversity into a mission of hope, organizing charity events that engage colleagues, friends, and the wider community to raise awareness and funds for research and assistance.

Giovanni Rosso played his part in organizing the ride, supported by the generous contributions of entrepreneurs, wine association, producers, and other companies from the wine world, whose involvement was essential to the success of the event.

Davide Rosso, owner of Giovanni Rosso, commented: “Watching the team conquer this incredible route, through breathtaking landscapes and historic wine regions, was profoundly moving. We are grateful to be inspired by such an important cause, and we hope to organize this event again next year, extending it and involving even more of our community.”.

This edition of the Beaune to Barolo charity ride has strengthened the bonds of friendship, endurance, and solidarity in the fight against MND, blending the love for wine with a tangible commitment to support scientific research and to bring hope to those affected by the disease and their families. We are delighted to announce that our Barolo Vignarionda Ester Canale Rosso has once again earned the prestigious title of Red Wine of the Year. This time, the accolade was awarded by Daniele Cernilli’s Essential Guide to Italian Wines, presented in Rome on October 28th. This recognition further solidifies the reputation of Barolo Vignarionda as the ultimate expression of the elegance and complexity of the Serralunga d’Alba terroir.

The renowned Doctor Wine, in his review, highlighted how Barolo Vignarionda was not only praised for its undeniable quality but also for its intrinsic connection to the Serralunga territory and its extraordinary ability to evolve over time, ensuring unmatched longevity. With a perfect score of 100 points out of 100, this wine reaffirms itself as the epitome of Nebbiolo excellence, thanks to the dedication and expertise that our winery has nurtured over generations.

In addition to this triumph, our Langhe Nebbiolo Ester Canale Rosso 2021, the “second-born” from the famed vineyard, also achieved an outstanding score of 97 points. This result underscores Giovanni Rosso’s commitment to producing wines that embody the tradition and authenticity of the land while maintaining an unmistakable style.

Giovanni Rosso Winery receives a new, prestigious international accolade. The renowned Forbes magazine, through the authoritative voice of wine critic Tom Hyland, has dedicated a reflection on the best Barolo producers, focusing its attention on the unmistakable excellence of Giovanni Rosso. In recent years, according to the journalist, the winery's wines have reached the pinnacle of the Barolo quality pyramid, establishing themselves for authenticity, elegance, and respect for the terroir. In his analysis, Hyland explores the identity of Giovanni Rosso, praising his philosophy and vision. The tasting notes of the new vintages, accompanied by excellent scores, including a 95-point rating for the 2020 Barolo Vignarionda DOCG, highlight the complexity and elegance of Giovanni Rosso wines, emphasizing their quality and the constant commitment to enhancing the value of the territory.

Kerin O'Keefe, one of the world's most renowned wine critic specializing in Italian wines, publishes reviews of new vintages of Baroli wines, including our 2020 Barolo Vignarionda Ester Canale Rosso awarded with 98 points. This recognition represents a further reward of our work and passion, confirming the positioning of our wines and terroirs among the excellences of the Italian wine scene. A result that pushes us to continue to improve and to propose wines of the highest quality capable of exciting and conquering the most demanding palates.

Stéphane Lefevbre, who drove the Citroen C3 and supported by the brand, steps up on the podium.

Once again, this year, driven by his passion for motorsport and dedication to the territory, Barolo producer Davide Rosso supported the 18th edition of the Rally Regione Piemonte, which inherits the tradition of the Alba Rally with a focus on sustainability and provides international competitors with the winding ups and downs of the Langhe, capable of guaranteeing a high-level technical target.

Breathtaking spring landscapes, a UNESCO heritage site, hosted on 12 and 13 April the Zone Rally Cup, organised by Cinzano Rally Team, in collaboration with ACI Cuneo and sponsored by the Piedmont Region, which ended with a podium finish for Stéphane Lefevbre and his team. The Frenchman, WRC3 World Champion and fresh from his participation in the Monte Carlo Rally, a stage of the WRC, returned to the Piedmontese roads in search of redemption after missing the victory by a whisker last year. The transalpine, driving a Citroen C3 Rally 2, managed by the D-Max team and signed Giovanni Rosso, finished second.

The producer of “the red of the year” thus consolidates its tradition in Albese motorsport, a sporting label of the local identity.
